In the early Jan 2018 I have made travel plans for a 7-week pacific solo trip. I have spent countless hours picking destinations, flight connections, accommodations, planning what to see ect. Once I had it all figured out I made a list of all the items I have to take care of or purchase to ensure I haven’t forgotten about anything. One of the most important decisions was to pick the travel insurance. I’ve done my research and opted for the Allianz Travel Insurance. It costed me $55 for a full year of coverage (it is 15 cents per day, I haven’t seen any insurance to beat that). You may get different quote as the cost depends on 3 factors: the type of plan you are purchasing, how old are you and the state you live in. That is it. Once you provide this information you get your quote. Simple and easy.

Small tip from me, although I was planning to get an annual plan I picked the international travel and chose 1 year time range. It saved me over $400 and gave me
$1 000 000 Emergency Medical Transportation coverage instead of $250 000 offered in the annual plan.
My though process was simple, I don’t want to underestimate if I am in trouble on the Pacific Ocean on a tiny island and need a helicopter ride to be transported to a hospital. Maybe $250 000 would cover the helicopter cost, but if not I do not want to ever pay any bill like that.
Another benefit with my plan is I didn’t have to list all the countries I am flying to which is great as I have no clue where I will go this year. So far I’ve done 18 trips and have been on 13 flights and there is still over 5 months of coverage on my plan.
Additionally you are covered if you need to change a flight or you miss a connection or your baggage is missing, damaged or delayed.
Here is a breakdown of my plan and if you feel like this type of travel insurance would work for you, go to Allianz website and get a plan for yourself. I thought of doing a comparison with other insurance plans but it just doesn’t make any sense, everything else is way more expensive and provides much less coverage. If you need cheap travel insurance with great coverage this is it.
