Want to drive more traffic to your website? Why do you need keywords and seo?
Keywords and SEO help search engines (google, pinterest, youtube and more) find relevant content.
When you are creating any type of content you need to make sure search engine will be able to read it. If you are writing a post about chocolate cake, include this words in the post. If you use any pictures in this post also include those keywords in the file name.
It is very important that your pins are SEO friendly. Ensure board name and board description is SEO friendly and contains all the key words to help Pinterest find your pins. Try to think of it this way:
When you open Pinterest as a user (not a blogger) you are probably scrolling through your feed to find something interesting to read or pin for later OR you want to find specific information, (like a recipe). In the second scenario when you want to search than the power of SEO come to play.
Imagine 2 scenarios. You want to bake a chocolate cake based on kidney beans. (Yeah, who wouldn’t 🙂 What would you write in the search box?: “beans brownie” “kidney beans chocolate cake” or something along those lines. Now Pinterest has millions of options of what to show you, but it want to show you the most relevant content. So where it would look for it:
- Board called “Pin all your pins” and description “Board closed to new users” and pin in this board called 123.jpg
- Board called ” Healthy Brownie Recipes” description ” avocado brownie, kidney beans brownie, vegan brownie …” and pin name ” kidney-bean-brownie.jpg
It doesn’t take a genious to figure out which pin the search engine would pick to show you (assuming this are the only 2 pins available). Of course that is never the case as Pinterest has millions of chocolate cake pins, so there are also other factors that come to play. The more you can improve on each of those factors the bigger the chance for your success. More about the other factors below the video.
So whenever you are creating any type of content have the keywords and SEO always on your mind.

If you don’t know how to write content optimized for search engines its best you take a SEO course or hire a freelancer to do it for you.
Do you have your google search console set up? I haven’t for 2 years of blogging. It only costed me $5 to have a specialist set it up for me.
I used to think I will google everything I need to know about blogging and didn’t invest in trainings but I can honestly say I was wrong. It took way too much time of figuring it out, not even knowing how much I still do not know. The first time I purchased an ebook and applied a portion of the tips (I didn’t agree with all tips though) it made a tremendous difference to my blog.
